When government cancels a right of occupancy.
Under the Land Use Act, a right of occupancy can be revoked for overriding public interest, for example to build a road, or for breach of the grant’s terms, such as failing to develop the plot in time or not paying Ground rent.
Revoked plots may be reallocated. That is why a recent official search matters: a document that was valid when issued may not be valid today.
Watch out
Undeveloped plots bought many years ago are the ones most often caught by revocation for failure to develop.
