A right to land in rural areas, granted by local authorities rather than the FCT Minister.
Alongside statutory rights, the Land Use Act provides for customary rights of occupancy over land in non-urban areas, granted at local government level.
Customary titles are common in some Satellite towns and outlying communities. They can be valid, but they are harder to verify and less accepted by banks than a Certificate of Occupancy.
