Buying a property before it is built, usually at a lower price.

Off-plan purchases let you lock in a price early and often pay in instalments as construction progresses. Developers use the payments to fund the build.

The trade-off is risk: delays, changes to the design, or a project that stalls. The developer’s track record and title matter as much as the price.

What to check

  • Verify the developer’s title to the land and the Building plan approval.
  • Visit projects the developer has already finished.
  • Tie payments to construction milestones in the Contract of sale.
  • Agree what happens to your money if the project is delayed or cancelled.
