Caution deposit

Also called Caution fee, Security deposit

A refundable sum held by the landlord to cover damage or unpaid bills.

Landlords often take a caution deposit at the start of a tenancy. It should be refunded when the tenant leaves, minus the cost of any damage beyond normal wear and tear.

Record the condition of the property with photos when you move in and when you leave.
